RECOMMENDED HMUAs

HAIR + MAKEUP ARTISTS

Above I have listed a few local Gold Coast hair and makeup artists I recommend as providing quality hair and/or makeup services for your portrait session. If you require hair and makeup for your shoot, please coordinate directly with your preferred artist. Hair and makeup is charged separately and paid directly to the artist.

Generally, HMUAs require 1.5 hours, so additional time allowances will be required within your shoot schedule.

Headshot Makeup

It is highly recommended for headshots that makeup and hair looks fresh and very natural. A good hair stylist and makeup artist will know exactly how to get that balance right to find that no-makeup makeup look. If you will require hair and makeup for your shoot, please coordinate directly with your preferred artist, and let me know if they will be using the studio facilities to do hair and makeup on site. Please allow 1.5 hours ahead of scheduled shoot for hair and makeup.

For children and young tweens/teens, little to no makeup is required. Just ensure that hair is neatly styled and brushed, and that faces are wiped clean of any food remnants.

Portrait + Creative Makeup

With portrait and creative sessions, whether you are going for natural beauty, natural makeup or glam, or full-blown prosthetics in a creative session, the extent of your hair and makeup is totally up to you. If you have ideas for a creative session, be sure to keep me in the loop so that I can assist in creating the atmosphere you need to make your ideas come to life. Send through a Pinterest board of ideas if that communicates your ideas clearly.

My Rules for Image Retouching

Generally, any blemishes or marks that would typically heal within two weeks will be retouched in the editing process, and it is usually easier to retouch skin that does not have mismatched spots of concealer, so please do not try to cover it unless applying a full face of makeup. For headshots and general portraits, permanent scars, wrinkles, moles and visible permanent marks will remain, although some may be softened where required. For more stylised or artistic portraiture, permanent marks may be reduced or removed dependent on the vision and integrity of the artwork.
